John Kuzmich –  Project Manager at WHITE LIGHT, Inc – THE STUDIO OF JIM CAMPBELL

“It’s my great pleasure to recommend Sandra Higuera for work. I first met Sandra when she replied to a bulletin posted at are San Diego colleges seeking help installing a large permanent public artwork at the San Diego Airport. She was one of the first to respond and remained one of the most professional, enthusiastic, and reliable workers I encountered throughout the multi-month installation. I was personally responsible for the interviewing and hiring of all temp employees for this project (among many others) and met a wide range of individuals. Sandra will rank as one of the most trustworthy and hardworking individuals I had the pleasure to work with. Sandra was always on time and displayed impeccable communication skills. Additionally, she was always one of the few to think ahead about the next day’s activities and determine how best to be prepared. I could always depend on her to ask relevant questions that were beneficial to the project, not just herself. She got along well with everyone and brought positive, and calm presence to the job site. Sandra never once complained, despite working some very hard and thankless jobs on the project! Lastly, I know Sandra to be passionate about art and design. She has illustrated remarkable tenacity and single-minded focus to achieve her goals. Her creative talents, along with her ability to the along well with a wide range of people, will allow her to thrive in any job environment. I have complete confidence in Sandra’s ability to succeed in all areas of her life, particularly her work life. I recommend Sandra enthusiastically and without hesitation as a candidate for any position or project”.

Michael Field –  Exhibit Designer at SAN DIEGO NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM

“Sandra has been helping me work through the final design phase for an 8,000 square foot exhibit about the habitats of Southern California and Northern Baja California. This is a $9,000,000 bilingual regional exhibition with a 15 to 20-year lifespan.  Most of her focus with us has been on our massive 1”=1’ scale model of the exhibit. She quickly translates raw ideas, words, sketches, and architectural blueprints into physical forms to be used in the design model. When Sandra remodeled our immersive snowstorm green-screen interactive more than one team member said; “we should build it exactly as Sandra did with the hand-drawn leaves and pine needles, it’s absolutely beautiful”. That’s just one example of her creative contributions to our project consistently exceeding our own expectations.  I have also been involved with Sandra through the Mesa College Museum Studies Program where I have been helping teach exhibit lighting, art handling, and art installation skills for the last 10 years. Sandra is an exceptional student who is very engaged, always staying one step ahead of the task at hand and spends any spare time helping the other students. I strongly endorse Sandra Higuera for any position in any organization requiring a super creative, collaborative, hardworking individual with a very positive attitude”.

Brian Gibson –  Exhibit Tech at SAN DIEGO NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM

“Sandra Higuera is a wise choice for any employment requiring dedication, attention to detail, and artistic talent. She has shown herself to be an excellent member of our team with the ability to generate ideas and create useful mock-ups and prototypes for several exhibits here at the San Diego Natural History Museum.  She was instrumental in helping me brainstorm ideas for elements for the exhibit, Coast to Cactus. Sandra has an excellent feel for how visitors might interact with various iterations of exhibit ideas and thinks about what might be learned from those interactions.  Sandra became a valuable intern for the exhibits department where she was eager to learn and to contribute to any projects we could give her. As an intern, she had a taste of what it is like to develop ideas, create supporting text and graphics, mocks up full-scale designs to share with the team, and begin fabrication of a series of interactive elements based around a theme.  Her natural talent and good nature, make Sandra Higuera a joy to work with. I strongly recommend her to any employer looking for a dedicated team player with a sincere interest in art, science, education, and the ability to share that interest with the public in a museum setting”.

Erika Kelly –  Exhibit Developer at SAN DIEGO NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM

“Sandra lent her skills in constructing and painting exhibit elements and models for out more permanent exhibition Coast to Cactus in Southern California, doing concept development for future exhibits, and prototyping interactive exhibit elements. Her broad skillset allowed to move easily among different tasks and media, which was a major asset for our small staff. I addition to being a delight to work with, Sandra is disciplined, flexible and creative in her thinking, collaborative and graciously receptive to feedback, and she brings a wonderful aesthetic sensibility to her work. Sandra will be an asset to any creative environment”.
